Thursday-Photo of the Day

Without waves, the world would be a different place. Waves cannot exist by themselves for they are caused by the winds. Without waves, the winds would have only a very small grip on the water and would not be able to move it as much. The waves allow the wind to transfer it's energy to the water's surface and to make it move.

Wednesday-Photo of the Day

Stonehenge is surely Britain's greatest national icon, symbolizing mystery, power and endurance. Its original purpose is unclear to us, but some have speculated that it was a temple made for the worship of ancient earth deities. It has been called an astronomical observatory for marking significant events on the prehistoric calendar. Others claim that it was a sacred site for the burial of high-ranking citizens from the societies of long ago.

While we can't say with any degree of certainty what it was for, we can say that it wasn't constructed for any casual purpose. Only something very important to the ancients would have been worth the effort and investment that it took to construct Stonehenge.

Tuesday Assignment

When looking at the Earth you may just think that it is brown… or green if covered with vegetation… but there is actually an immense variety of hues if you look for them.
Your task is to take photos showing this great variation
  •  You might find colors varying from white sand, pebbles, red earth, yellowish earth, brown or almost black earth, all kinds in between.
  • Find areas where there are different soil colors, or the vegetation gives a different colored impression.
  • Take photos showing this variety.
  • For most of these photos you will need to be up close so your camera should be in macro mode (the setting with the flower)
  • Plants may give a pale or dark green impression, silvery or white, or blue or olive green and many other shades.
  • A very mossy area, or bright orange lichen, will color an area.
  • If there's a mass of flowers they will dominate the scene.
  • Photography this amazing kaleidoscope of color!
